Gastroenterology

Vomiting dogs and cats are common patients in our specialist vet hospital. Vomiting and diarrhoea are common clinical signs associated with a gastrointestinal (GIT) disturbance. Our medical specialists have many years experience diagnosing and treating many GIT disorders including cancer, foreign bodies, inflammatory bowel disease and infections.

Our specialist vet hospital provides a complete range of medical services for the investigation of problems of the gastrointestinal system. We will usually begin our examination of the gastrointestinal system with a thorough abdominal ultrasound, as this is the least invasive procedure that we can perform that often yields a large amount of important information.

Should we need further diagnostic tests, our specialist practice equipment allows for modern techniques including endoscopic examinations of the upper and lower gastrointestinal system. We also provide services for the endoscopic and laparoscopic biopsy of the gastrointestinal tract and liver using minimally invasive surgical methods. Please find a video of an endoscopic exam of the stomach in a dog here.
