Triple pelvic osteotomy (TPO) in dogs is an effective treatment for canine hip dysplasia if the degenerative changes in the joint are non-existent or minor. TPO involves freeing the "socket" section of the ball and socket joint and applying a specialised plate that rotates the "socket to further cover the ball of the femur such that a tighter joint is formed. Although a major procedure most dogs tolerate it well and are often walking the next day.
